I C E “In Case of Emergency” Whenever an accident or emergency occurs unexpectedly your loved ones can be notified through cellular technology. In these days of modern technology most everyone has a cell phone. This very cell phone could save your life simply by using I C E, “In Case of Emergency”. Program your cell phone with emergency contact phone numbers of loved ones in your city, another city and another state. Let’s say an emergency should arise, whether it is a car accident, earthquake, hurricane or any other type of emergency your cell phone directory could save your life. Here’s how it works: Program on your cell phone: Aaa (space) I (space) C (space) E (space) 1 which will look like this on the top of your phone book on your cell phone Aaa I C E 1 with the phone number of your loved one or contact person. Continue with additional emergency numbers so your cell phone directory looks something like this: Aaa I C E 1 And so on. Such a directory could assist emergency workers if you were to become unconscious or traumatized. Also have your children’s cell phone programmed with your number in I C E in addition to your land line number that is already listed. Many times children as well as adults when traumatized will have trouble scrolling down to numbers, but if placed on the top of their phone book I C E 1 with mom or dad’s number they can immediately call for help. Also, emergency workers could retrieve your phone number immediately and contact your family if you are unable. Talk with your family about the value of I C E as a means of preparedness in the case of any emergency. Petros Koutoulas/G.O.B.C. G.O.B.C. Greek Orphans Birthright Center |
